Verdelho is a Portuguese variety that is most famous for its use in some of the long-lived fortified wines of Madeira. At Sevenhill, it is used to make a wine in the style of a White Port. The fruit is left on the vine to increase sugar levels and to develop rich tropical/dried apricot fruit flavours.
Sevenhills Liqueur Verdelho is a limited-edition wine that is blended from carefully selected stock that has been allowed to slowly develop in large, old oak vessels. The blend has an average age of 10 years and exhibits a deep orange colour, with aromas of marmalade and dried apricots.
The palate is rich and silky, with flavours of candied orange peel, followed by a toasty caramel and nutty, lingering finish.
